We are posting to inform you that over the next three weeks we will be gradually supporting the transition of most of our Year 5 and 6 students from the Learning Centre in Stockwood to our Southmead Learning Centre.
This positive change of Learning Centre will allow for the provision of more support for Year 6 students, who will transition into secondary schools in September, by giving them opportunities to experience some 'taster' secondary lessons which will be appropriate to their needs.
Our mentors and staff will also accompany the year 6 students to their allocated secondary schools once links are established with them.
Students in both Year 5 and Year 6 will have an opportunity, at the Southmead Learning Centre, to carry out peer work with a couple of our selected secondary students to support their progression from upper Key Stage 2 towards Key Stage 3.
Please note that the mentors and teaching staff who currently work with these students will be making the transition with them to support this process of change.
This transition period will be completed by Friday 10th March 2017.
During this period of time the Year 5 and Year 6 students who will be transitioning to the Southmead site will make regular visits with their mentors, and also their parents/ carers and teachers if required. Some of the half term holiday activities were undertaken at our Southmead site so students are already beginning to get more used to their new venue.
The address of our Southmead Learning Centre is:
Southmead Youth Centre
If you have any questions or you would like to visit our Southmead Learning Centre, please do not hesitate to get in contact. We would welcome visits by parents/ carers and commissioning bodies at an agreed and pre- arranged time.
